Ever After is an interactive-fiction reading service operated by TeraPixel LLC (“we”, “us”). You can reach us through Help, which is answered in the app.
Ever After is not for children under 13
You must be at least 13 to create an Ever After account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
This is enforced, not merely stated. Registration asks for a date of birth and the server refuses any date below the minimum — a refusal the browser cannot override. When we refuse a registration for age, we store nothing at all: no email address, no username, no account record, no log entry tying the attempt to a person. The only thing kept is a marker in that browser’s session recording that a refusal happened, which contains no date of birth and no identity.
If you believe someone under 13 has an account, tell us through Help. On learning of it we will delete the account and the personal information associated with it.
What we collect, and why
When you create an account: your email address, a username, a password (stored only as an Argon2 hash — we never hold the password itself), your date of birth, and the time you accepted the terms. We collect the date of birth to apply the age floor above and to decide which content ratings you are eligible to read. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
As you read: which books you have opened, where you are in each one, the choices your journeys have taken, chapters reached, rewinds used, and anything you have unlocked — codex entries, achievements, artifacts and letters. This is what allows a book to keep your place and to remain your own version of the story. We also store your favourites, your ratings and reviews, and your reading preferences such as theme and text size.
When you contact us: the content of help requests you send, and our replies. Readers are answered in the app rather than by email.
Automatically: the session cookies that keep you signed in, and the age-screen marker described above. Our servers also write ordinary request logs — the method, the path, the time and the address the request came from, but not the contents of what you read or send. Those logs are a rotating buffer of at most three 10 MB files on our own server, overwritten as new entries arrive; we do not archive them.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for behavioural advertising.
Who can see your reading
Your reading activity is private by default. Another reader cannot see what you have read, where you are in a book, or which endings you reached, unless you have both connected with them in Circle and deliberately shared a specific book or shelf. Connecting alone does not reveal your reading, and you can revoke a share at any time.
Reviews and ratings you publish are visible to other readers under your username.
Staff access
Staff may access account and catalogue records to operate the service, investigate reports, and enforce the content rules. Moderation and publishing actions are recorded in an audit log, including who took them. Access to the more sensitive administrative functions requires a second authentication step.
Where it is stored, and for how long
Data is held on infrastructure operated by TeraPixel LLC in the United States. Accounts persist until deleted. You can delete your account yourself, and doing so removes it and the personal information with it — your journeys, preferences, favourites, ratings and anything you posted publicly. It is immediate, with no grace period, and it cannot be undone. A recovery window would mean the data still existed during it, which is exactly what someone deleting their account is asking not to be true. Staff can also delete an account, and do so on learning a holder is under 13.
Verification and password-reset tokens are short-lived and expire automatically.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your account yourself from your profile at any time. For anything else, ask through Help and we will respond there.
Changes
We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal information, we will say so rather than only changing the date.
